Eels Lake I-III
Since Ron didn't have to go in to work today and the weather was nice, we decided that we would take the canoe and head up toward Bancroft so I could take some photographs of the autumn colours which are a lot further along than they are here.
I thought that we would stop and go in to either Loon Call Lake or Wolf Lake, but Ron wanted to try a lake that we hadn't been to before so we ended up at Eel's Lake.
When we arrived, we could see that the water levels were down at least 2-1/2 - 3ft (.76 - .91m), which allowed many rocks, stumps and logs showing which would normally be submerged.

As usual we headed up the lake until we were as far as we wanted to go for the trip and turned the canoe around and I would work on drawings and take reference photographs while Ron went fishing.
I did a drawing of a large pine tree on an island which was at our turning point.

As we continued on our way back be went in between a chain of islands and the shore, both of which had cottages and boat docks.
My second drawing was of an island with a large number of pine, cedar and maple trees, which at a later date I may do a large painting in either watercolour or acrylic.

As we returned to the boat launch Rob decided he wanted to try one last time to catch a fish and we went into the shallow inlet on the far side of the dock.
Unfortunately for Ron, this trip the only thing he managed to catch was a couple of the sunken logs in the inlet. All in all it was an enjoyable day out on the lake.

Final Day at the Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio
The membership of the Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio voted in July to close their doors at the present location of 29 years at 420 O'Connell Road, in Peterborough, Ontario on 30 September 2019.
They will be moving to a new location at Peterborough Collegiate and Vocational Institute (PCVS), located at 201 McDonnel Street, in Peterborough, Ontario where they will no longer have an art gallery and just have a small studio space for the members.
Since I have my own art studio in my home, I have no need to drive into Peterborough to paint. That being said, if they should offer classes that interest me, I may attend.
Today the final pieces to be moved from KAGS have left the building and the Gallery here is officially closed.
I wish them the best of luck with their new location.

Clear Lake V - Cottages
I wanted to finish another drawing, so I pulled out this one that was a part of a series from Clear Lake that was started a number of years ago (see posts on 09 June 2013, 06 May, 06 July and 31 December 2016 and 07 February 2018).
First I put in a couple of chairs by the shade tree at the edge of the lake.
This was followed by adding grasses, rocks and growies along the shoreline.
Lastly, I added a few more ripples into the water in the foreground.
This original 7" x 9" pen and ink drawing when matted and shrink wrapped will be available for $50.00.

Little Lake Trees 1 and 2
Today I set up the display at the 9th Annual Purple Onion Festival held in Millennium Park in Peterborough.
I was joined by fellow artists Jewell Allington, Jane Hall and Emil Varga.
We had a fairly steady stream of people coming through the building throughout the day.
In the afternoon I took a break and walked along the pathway by Little Lake.
I did this drawing of a maple tree with the sun on the lake and the autumn colours in the background.

On my way back to the show I stopped at this spot which featured four maple trees with various coloured foliage with the sun lighting up the autumn colours on the far shore.

Pinto News Illustration August 1981
I came across a copy of the August 1981, which features on the cover the logo I designed for them (see post on 24 November 2015).
It also has an illustration of a Saddle type tobiano Pinto that I did for the News Letter.
Although at that time we didn't have any Saddle type Pintos being exhibited I am pleased that I did do one so that all four types were represented.

Stoney Lake I and II
Today Cindy, Norma and I took the lunch cruise with the new Stoney Lake Cruises.
We boarded the M/V Spirit of the Kawarthas, which is the largest cruise ship in the Kawarthas at 11:00 a.m. and will return at 1:00 p.m.
Needless to say we took our place on the upper deck so we could take photographs unhindered. I found a spot by the pilot house and spent most of my time there until we were called below for lunch.
Lunch consisted of fresh rolls, pasta salad, Caesar salad and a garden salad, chicken with seasoned rice and lasagna. This was followed by a dessert of butter tarts and a variety of freshly baked cookies.

After doing a couple of drawings while below deck, I returned to the upper deck to take more photographs and enjoy seeing some of the over 1,128 islands as well as many of the famous buildings like the Glass House, Church on the Rock and the Ronnie Hawkins Estate to name a few.
