Today I painted with the Buckhorn Tuesday Painting Group and worked on this drawing that I sketched last year (see post on 23 August 2015).
I started with the background first by indicating the furthest back trees with vertical strokes.
From there I put in the water line for the distant shore and then started putting in the rocks and the shadows on the rocks.
Finally, on the far shore I added pine trees and growies above the rocks.
In the foreground I put in the outline of the rocks on the island as a base for the trees and bushes.
Next I started on the pine trees, beginning with indicating the main trunks and branches and then adding the pine needles onto the branches.
The bark was added to the main trunks on all of the pine trees.
Dead pine trees, broken trunks and branches were added to give interest.
I put the bushes in above the rocks and added some of the stems and branches.
Next I put the shadows onto the rocks.
Lastly, I put in the water ripples below the rocks and added some reflections into the water.
This original 8-1/2" x 9” pen and ink drawing when matted and shrink wrapped will be available for $50.00.
