Mean Sky - A Work in Progress

Today I painted with the Lakefield Creative Arts Group at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in Lakefield.

I wasn't in the mood to paint in watercolour so I brought my acrylic paint and this piece that I had started many years ago (see post on 31 May 2010).

I started by painting the pine trees on the island using raw sienna and ultramarine blue.

It wasn't long before it was time to break for lunch and the group has a number of things to discuss including the upcoming Mother's Day Show on 09 May 20 from 10am-4pm and a new show tentatively scheduled for 07 Nov 20 in honour of the soldiers who fought in World War II.

After lunch I returned to my painting and added a little bit of burnt sienna to the mixture and painted in the trunks and branches.

I put the under paint onto some of the rocks with burnt sienna, titanium white and raw sienna before it was time to clean up and go home.

I will post this painting at a later date once I finish the rocks.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and look at the artwork.
