Cadmium red was washed into the sky and water. While the paper was still wet a pale mixture of French ultramarine blue and burnt sienna was used to paint in clouds.
The cloud mixture was darkened as the paper dried and the islands and tree silhouettes were then painted when the paper was almost completely dry.
