This is one of three pieces I started earlier this year (see post on 22 August 2016) that I wanted to finish. I started by using various muddy colours to paint in the smoke stacks on the factories and the different buildings.
I finished the lower toxic sky with aureolin, cadmium yellow and a green of Antwerp blue and new gamboge. The upper sky was put in with Antwerp blue.
With burnt sienna and Antwerp blue I painted in the smoke emitted from the larger, closer smoke stacks.
Using cadmium red and cadmium yellow, I put the various warning lights on the smoke stacks and buildings.
