ACEO - Winter Morning 1

A lot of the time when the sun is rising it causes the sky in the west to be coloured with a beautiful rosy glow against the soft blues of the sky.

I brushed alizarin crimson into the wet paper, followed by a mixture of cobalt blue and Antwerp blue into the sky.

Next I put in both colours into the bottom of the painting with horizontal strokes.

Using various mixtures of French ultramarine blue, raw sienna and new gamboge I painted in the trees on the horizon first and then darkened the mixtures with a touch of burnt sienna.

With the darker colour I put in the trees onto the snow covering the islands and added a few grasses and growies into the snow below the trees with raw sienna.

Lastly, I put in some shadows on the snow covered lake in the foreground with French ultramarine blue and a touch of burnt sienna.
