Beauty on the Shore - A Work in Progress

This is the first of three sketches of seashells that was started last month during the still life at KAGS.















I will post this piece once I have finished the sketch and started to apply paint.

Bottles and Daffodils - A Work in Progress

This is a painting that was started last month in one of the Still Life classes at KAGS. It was an interesting display with a large assortment of bottles to choose from.

I started this small section with the three oil filled bottles and the daffodil in the background with the colour of the bright yellow pot showing through the glass.

I will post this painting at a later date as more of it has been completed.

Clothing - A Work in Progress

Today at KAGS the theme for the Still Life class was clothing.

We had an assortment of clothes, a denim shirt hanging off the end of a wooden chair with a crocheted hat hanging off the opposite end of the same chair and a plaid work jacket lying on the floor.

In the background there was a camouflage jumpsuit, hanging beside the brightly coloured beach wrap and top. There was also a simple grey sleeveless dress beside a leather biker jacket.

The folds created interesting shadows across the materials.

I will post this painting at a later date once more of it has been completed.

OSWOA - Morning Sky 3

Often in the early morning when the sun is just rising the colours in the western sky are various shades of pastel pinks and blues.

The lakes are usually calm with barely a ripple and the reflections are mirror images of the shoreline, rocks and trees.

I decided to work on this piece that I had started earlier this year (see post on 23 Jan 2013).

ACEO - Waterfall 1

This is a painting I started a while ago (see posting on 09 October 2012 and 10 February 2013).

It didn't need a lot of work for it to be completed, a few dead tree trunks in the background, but mainly the rocks that needed to be finished so I added shadows, cracks and a little texture.
