Through the Canyon I

I wanted to do more work on this sketch that I had started last year (see post on 15 January 2016).

First, I added more details to the middle horse and then I worked on the lead horse.

Before I could get started on the third horse, I had company drop by for a visit.

I will post this drawing at a later date once I finish the third horse and do more work on the canyon walls.

Triad I

Now that all the fields have been plowed and will soon be planted my horses needed a new pasture.

So on the weekend we put posts around the infield of the track. Putting them in was difficult with the ground being so hard and dry due to a lack of rain.

Next we attached the hot wire to the posts and hooked it up to the paddock fencing and it was time to let the horses out in their new pasture.

Of course Tai just had to touch the wire and got zapped. Since then he has been giving the fence a wide berth. I doubt that he will do it again.

It was a lot of work but it is nice to be able to look out my kitchen window and see the horses grazing in the infield again.

As I sat at the kitchen table I did this little drawing of galloping horses.

This original 3-3/4" x 5” original pen and ink drawing when matted and shrink wrapped will be available for $30.00.

Galloping

This afternoon we had the Annual General Meeting at the Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio.

While I was at the meeting and this year I didn't have to read the Annual Financial Statement since I made copies of it for any member who wanted go over it on their own.

While the other reports were being read I worked on a sketch of a horse galloping. Unfortunately, I had to stop a number of times to answer questions and vote to accept the reports as read.

With the interruptions I ended up making the body far too large for the head of the horse.

After all the reports were read we stopped to have a short break before the voting for the Executive Positions.

When it came to voting in a new Treasurer for KAGS, no one wanted to take my place as Treasurer.

So, I agreed to stand for another two year term, but this will be my last term as Treasurer as I want to do something different with less deadlines, responsibility and hassles.

I will post this drawing at a later date once I have corrected the size of the head to fit the body.

The Lope 1-4 - Four Works in Progress

I was watching a program on television about the training of Quarter Horses and the classes in which they are exhibited.

The Lope 3

While the program I watched the program I did a number of quick sketches of the horses.

The Lope 2

There was a segment on training reining horses and it showed a horse doing one of the reining patterns.

The Lope 1

Another part featured the Trail, Western Please and English Pleasure classes.

The Lope 4

There was a part about the various gaming classes and racing.

I will post each of these drawings at a later date once they have been completed.

Race the Wind I

It is snowing out this morning and with the high temperature for the day at 34F(1C), it will be just warm enough to melt the snow by this afternoon.

I pulled out this little drawing that I started a year ago (see post on 26 January 2013) and should be able to complete it before I have to leave.

I finished the remaining legs on the horses, added the mane and shading on the bodies and then put the grass beneath their legs.

This original 2-3/4" x 6-1/4” pen and ink drawing when matted and shrink wrapped will be available for $25.00.
