Fire

Today is going to be fairly mild, with the temperature just below freezing at 30F (-1C) but we are also going to get about 6" (15cm) of snow.

It is the kind of day where once the barn chores are done and all the animals have been watered and fed it is time to relax with a nice fire. Which is exactly what I am going to do today.

Fire

With the high today, reaching a balmy 32F (0C) and up to 2" (5cm) of snow coming down, it was going to be a fairly busy day.

Starting off with my annual dentist appointment first thing in the morning, then running a few errands before going to a doctor's appointment.

From there a late lunch with friends, followed by more errands before heading for home and making supper.

I thought I would make the first fire of the fall and relax this evening with a nice mug of Ovaltine.

Fire

Today has a high of 32F (0C), with the wind making it feel like 27F (-3C) and we are going to get at least 2" (5cm) of the heavy, wet packing snow.

While it does make everything look pretty and it is great for making snowmen and snow forts, it does make shovelling the walkway hard work.

Needless to say we are going to enjoy a nice fire in the fireplace tonight, the first one of the season.

It is probably one of the things I enjoy most, as the cold weather sets in until it disappears in the spring next year.

Fire

Everything outside is white with a covering of snow that we received overnight.

With the temperature this morning, as I went down to do the barn chores at 9F (-13C) and the wind chill making it feel like -2F (-19C), I think it's going to stay for a day or two.

Tonight we started the first fire of the season, which is something I always enjoy.

I can now look forward to many evenings relaxing with the glow of a fire in the hearth.

Fire

After the last week with temperatures ranging from 50F-67F (10C-19C) we are greeted today with a temperature of 28F (-2C).

The snow was whipped across the fields by the 25mph (40kmh) winds which made the temperature outside feel like 12F (-11C).

After finishing up the evening barn chores and coming into the house to warm up, it was nice to have the first fire of the season burning in the fireplace after supper.

When it was time to head off to bed the fire had almost burnt itself out and in the morning there would be nothing left but some grey ash.

Fire

Tonight we are having the first fire of the fall in the fireplace.

It will be the first of many as the temperature drops and we get snow on the ground.

Fire

Have you ever had a day where no matter what you try to do everything just goes wrong?

That is exactly how my day went beginning in the morning with the pump not working in the barn, the kettle giving up the ghost before I had my morning cup of tea.

Ron decided to take me out for breakfast, well the first place we went to was now on winter hours and didn't open until noon, so we went to another place.

From there we ran some errands, picked up a kettle and parts for the pump before heading home. Once we arrived at home we found that the power was out and would be restored for at least six hours.

We went back out later to have supper and by the time we returned home the power was on and Ron fixed the pump and then, we were able to relax for the evening and enjoy a fire.

Fire

It is another day with a forecast of pending snow, but at least the temperature made it up to 34F (1C) and once again the snow held off until the evening.

Which is why, tonight I am relaxing in the living room and enjoying a fire in the fireplace.
