Crystal Clear I

I decided to ink in this drawing (see post on 21 April 2013) of the tidal pool in front of our beach house that we stay in when at the CoCo View Resort on Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras.















The tide was just starting to come in and it wouldn't be long before the large rocks would be buried beneath the water, with only a slight ripple to mark their presence.

I enjoyed carefully wading through the tidal pool after may last dive of the day as there was a treasure trove of sea creatures to be found.















Usually a couple of Queen Conchs, various different kinds of crabs, a multitude of snails and a number of different types of small fish.

This original 9" x 12" pen and ink drawing will be available matted and shrink wrapped for $50.00.

Beach Scenes - Four Works in Progress

Today I thought I would like to work on some of the scenes from the Caribbean.

I pulled out three drawings from Aruba (see post on 16 September 2013) and one from Roatan (see post from 08 April 2015).














Along the Shore 1

I thought that I would work on all four pieces at the same time starting with the sand.

I used raw sienna in various strengths for the sand on the beaches leaving some areas of white paper by the shore for the froth from the waves.














Along the Shore 3

Using Antwerp blue in the sky I brush in the sky and then added in a little of the raw sienna for the water, leaving some areas white for the froth on the beach and for a few white caps.

I will post each of these paintings at a later date as more work on them is completed.

Crystal Clear I

Finally a nice, sunny and warmer day; I should be able to start working in my garden later this afternoon.

In the meantime I decided to work on this drawing of the tidal pool in front of our beach house that I started the last time I was at the CoCo View Resort on the island of Roatan in the Bay Islands of Honduras.












I hope to go back to Roatan again in a couple of years, the diving is fabulous whether you go boat diving or shore diving and it has become one of my favourite places to dive.

I have taken this drawing as far as I am going to for the day and now it is time to go outside and work in the garden.

Mr. Bud I - A Work in Progress

Even though there is snow still on the ground the trees are starting to show that spring is just around the corner.

Today I have to go to the Executive meeting at KAGS so I decided that I would go in a little earlier and work on a couple of paintings.













I started this painting earlier this year (see post on 06 January 2013) as a guide for an acrylic painting on which I am working.

I added the soft yellow seaweed into the forecastle of the boat and to the right side of the painting on the reef. More different types of sponges and corals were added onto the reef and onto the side of the Mr. Bud.

I will post this painting at a later date once more work on it has been completed.

Mr. Bud I - A Work in Progress

I was looking at my acrylic painting of the Mr. Bud wreck (see posts on 24 February 2012 and 06 October 2012) and decided to work up a quick watercolour sketch of it to see in which direction I wanted to take the painting.













I will do a little more work on this piece at a later date and post it at that time.
