Display at the MacKelvie Gallery

Today the KAGS Outdoor Painters' Group will hang a display of their artwork in the MacKelvie Gallery at the Lang Pioneer Village and Museum, located in Keene, Ontario.

While we were hanging our exhibit The Peterborough Examiner sent out a photographer/writer to take pictures of our Group hanging the show in the gallery and I was nominated by the Group to give him information about the Outdoor Painters and the Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio.

I also ended up having to go outside and sketch some of the buildings including the Lang Grist Mill which is celebrating its 175th year and Fife Cabin while being photographed.

The article will appear in the paper later today.

I will post the article at a later date together with the photographs.

Exhibit at the MacKelvie Gallery

Today the Outdoor Painters' group went to Lang Pioneer Village Museum to hang our art in the MacKelvie Gallery and afterward to draw and paint in the Village.

Take in began at 9:30 a.m. and by 11:30 a.m. we had a total of 52 paintings.

It didn't take long to set the paintings out around the room, where they would eventually be placed on the walls.

With seven of us hanging the paintings, we had everything up and in place on the walls by just after 1:00 p.m. at which time we decided to go out into Keene to have our lunch.

But not before a couple of people in period costume came in to see the exhibit.

If you have a chance to come out and enjoy the show, you will also be able to see how people lived in Canada over 200 years ago; with many wonderful ongoing displays and people in period costumes.

The exhibit will be on display from today until 26 July 18.

MacKelvie Art Gallery

Yesterday I hung my three submissions for the exhibit in the MacKelvie Gallery at Lang Pioneer Village Museum in Keene, Ontario.

The Village was established by the County of Peterborough in 1967 to celebrate and preserve the rural history of the area. It features over thirty restored and furnished buildings constructed between 1825 and 1899.

Many of these buildings were donated by townships within Peterborough County and moved to their present site when the Museum was founded.

If you have a chance, come out and view the show and enjoy the harvest festivities. The show runs from 01 September - 06 October 2016.

On 04 September from 10:00am-4:00pm the Village will celebrate the harvest season and the 170th anniversary of the Lang Grist Mill.

The festivities will feature an all-day Harvest Corn Roast, live music throughout the day, horse and wagon rides, demonstrations by the Lang Pioneer Village Quilting Club, old fashioned children’s games and many more events.

The following month on 02 October is the Applefest, a colourful fall celebration of apples and the harvest season, with horse and wagon rides, live music and many more events.

Today I am off to set up my display for the Kawartha Art Festival in Fenelon Falls, Ontario.

Lang Mill I

Today the KAGS Outdoor Painters' Group went to Lang Pioneer Village and Museum to remove our paintings from the MacKelvie Gallery.

After we removed the paintings we had the rest of the day to draw and paint the buildings, animals, machinery and people of the Village.

As I wandered through the Village I took many photographs and at the end of the afternoon I did this sketch of the Lang Mill before I left for home.

Fading Light - A Work in Progress

Today was a very busy day for me.

First I had to go to Keene to hang the Outdoor Painters' Group show at the MacKelvie Gallery, at the Lang Pioneer Village,Museum, which will run from 05 August - 03 October.

From there I had to go to the KAGS and sit the final day of the People, Places and Things Show and take down the paintings.

I worked on this painting while I was there. It is almost finished and I will post it at a later date when it is completed.

On my way home I had to pick up paintings from one of the new members of the Buckhorn Artists' Group, Carol Francisco as due to prior commitments she was unable to be there this week.

Then finish loading my paintings into the Blazer to take up to St. Matthew's Church in Buckhorn to set up the panels for our 19th annual Shades of Summer Art Show with the Buckhorn Artists' Group

Right now I am going to put my feet up and relax for the rest of the evening. Tomorrow is another day of hanging paintings and completing the final preparations for our show.
