The Kawartha Artists' Outdoor Painters Show opens Friday and continues until July 31 at Lang Pioneer Village, north of Keene in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.
The Outdoor Painters are a group of artists from Kawartha Artists' Gallery and Studio on Park Street in Peterborough.

From spring through to fall they paint in various locations in and around Peterborough, including annual visits to Lang Pioneer Village.
During the winter months, they meet indoors at the Peterborough studio and work in various mediums completing works or beginning pieces anew.

The show is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the rest of the month at the Lang Pioneer Village museum.

Meanwhile Lang Pioneer village is hosting one of its special summer events, the Bedrooms and Backwoods: Secrets of the Village at Night on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m.
Participants can tour the village by the glow of lantern light and experience the secrets of settler life after dark, according to a release.

The event, which falls on National Kissing Day, features:
• Romantic horse-drawn wagon rides through the village under the evening sky.
• Traditional melodies performed by Al Kirby, Michael O'Toole and Cheryl Casselman.
