ACEO - Fog 2

Nothing like having to go to Toronto and knowing that you are going to have to drive in a snow storm that will change to freezing rain just to make things a little more difficult. But at least we made it back home safely.

After making myself a cup of tea I decided I would work on a small painting and pulled out this piece that I had started a number of years ago (see post on 27 February 2013).

I mixed a grey of burnt sienna and French ultramarine blue and working backwards, I put in the foreground tree first.

Next, I lightened the colour slightly by adding water and put in the next closer trees as well as the growies in the foreground on the right side of the painting.

I continued to add a little more water to the paint for each layer of trees until they faded in the distance.

Lastly, with raw sienna I painted in some grasses at the base of some of the trees.

If you would like more information about ACEO please go to my post on 11 March 2010.

The ACEO shown here is an original watercolour painting using Artist quality Winsor & Newton paint on 140lb. Arches 100% rag, acid free watercolour paper. It is priced at $20.00 and sold unframed.
