I pulled out these two paintings that I had started last month (see posts on 04 and 08 February 2013).
With both pieces having many of the same colours I use a pale mixture of Antwerp blue, Cobalt blue and alizarin crimson to wash in the background hills.
Next on the first painting I washed aureolin into some areas of the snow to give it a warm glow.
On the second painting using a darker wash of aureolin I streaked colour across the water.

Once the paint was dry I lightly sketched in the trees. I will post each of these paintings as they are completed.
