These were a stand of birches that I used to have in one of my back fields on the edge of the Snelgrove Brook. All that remains of them now are three stumps courtesy of one of the wetland residents a beaver.
At least I have photographs of how beautiful they were as well as a number of sketches and can always do another painting from my reference materials.
