The sky and foreground were washed in with a mixture of Antwerp blue and French ultramarine blue.
Raw sienna was added to the blue mixture and used to paint in the background trees while the paper was still damp to keep the edges fairly soft.
Growies were painted around the base of the pine tree trunk with burnt sienna, raw sienna, and a mixture of French ultramarine blue and raw sienna. Then the trunk was under painted with a mixture of burnt sienna and a touch of French ultramarine blue.
A darker mixture of French ultramarine blue and raw sienna was used to paint in some of the pine needles.
As I complete more of this painting I will post it to the blog.
