ACEO - Against the Clouds 1-3

Today I wanted to do something a little different with my paintings than I normally do.

Instead of washing in a sky and clouds, I decided that I would put in the cloud shapes and build up layers of them.

Against the Clouds 1

Once the clouds were dry I painted the sky in behind them.

With the harder more solid edges on the clouds it seems to have almost a Group of Seven feel about it.

To complete the paintings I added trees into the foreground to have them stand out from the background clouds and sky. I kind of like the way it looks.

Trapped

Trapped is an original 3" x 5” framed watercolour.

This is the first in a series of autumn Maple leaves captured by weeds before they finally make their way to their final resting place on the ground.

I found this leaf trapped in among a section of Scotch Thistles along the fence line.

Congratulations to new collector Mrs. Diane Lingenfelter of Scarborough, Ontario on her purchase of this painting

Thank you for taking the time to look at my artwork and I hope you will return often.

Morning Snowfall

Morning Snowfall is an original 10" x 13” framed watercolour.

I thought this painting to be fitting since it snowed yesterday and we are having more snow flurries again today with the temperature being 26F (-3C) and a strong wind to make things even more pleasant.

This painting was made using a limited palette of French ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, raw sienna and Antwerp blue. Salt was thrown into the painting to create "snowflakes".

Congratulations to new collector Ms. Tracy Loffhagen of London, Ontario on her selection of this painting to add to her collection.

Christine on the Beach

Christine on the Beach is an original 14-1/2" x 22” framed watercolour.

It doesn't matter what time of the year it is, but when children get near water whether it is a puddle in the driveway or a lake they find a way to play in it.

In this instance it was my daughter playing with a stick in the water. We were going out later for supper and she knew she couldn't get her dress wet. So being able to be ankle deep in the water and splashing with a stick was the best she could do.

Congratulations to new collectors Mr. & Mrs. Donegan of Nepean, Ontario on their selection of this painting.

Winter Evening

Today is a grey, rainy day with the temperature hovering around the freezing mark there is the possibility of snow mixed with the rain.

What better to do than a monochromatic painting using only Payne's grey and white?

Winter Evening is the last of the 4-1/2" x 8” original, framed acrylic paintings available for $65.00. SOLD

Winter Glow

It was bright and sunny this morning but with the temperature being 20F (-6C) I decided a snow scene would be a fitting painting for the day.

I wanted to also paint something bright to give the illusion of a moonlit night with the moon hidden behind the clouds.

Congratulations to V. Wilkes of Lakefield, Ontario on the addition of Winter Glow to his art collection.

Thank you for coming to look at my artwork.

Early Morning

Today is another bright and sunny day even though the temperature in the morning remains cool.

I went to paint today with the Outdoor Painters' Group at KAGS. It was too cool for them to paint outdoors yet, but the list for the places we will be going out to paint at begins on 28 April 11 at Griffin's Greenhouse, 3026 Lakefield Rd. which was a part of the GardenRoute show last year.

Early Morning is an original 4-1/2" x 8” framed acrylic available for $65.00.
