Ghost Pine

In this piece I was working with various components to bring them together in one painting.

I wanted to have the silvery white trunk of a dead pine silhouetted against a stormy sky, but I also wanted to have a lake with a rocky shore and reflections in the water, as well as the yellowed grasses that are so common at the end of the summer.

I am pleased with the way everything went together in this tall format.

This is an original, framed 5" x 12-1/2” watercolour available for $225.00.

Today is also a fairly busy day for me in that I have demonstrated again at the Norwood 2nd Annual Art Show and Sale at the Norwood Legion Hall - Branch 300, Corner of Alma and King Street, Norwood, Ontario.

The show runs from the 22-26 June and is open daily from 2-5pm.

Then went to get my paintings from the "Spring into Summer" show at the KAGS and was informed that I had sold a painting just prior to the closing of the show.

I would like to thank new collector Ms. Angela Ross of Norwood, Ontario on her purchase of Day's End (see post on 01 June 2010).

Silver Lining

This is an original 4-1/2" x 6-1/2” framed watercolour available for $125.00.

With living on the top of a hill I see the sky around me and each twenty four hour period is new and different, changing throughout the course of the day, no two the same.

They say that every cloud has a silver lining, and it seems that is very true when the sun shines behind them.

I will be demonstrating at the Norwood 2nd Annual Art Show and Sale at the Norwood Legion Hall - Branch 300, Corner of Alma and King Street, in Norwood, Ontario today.

The show runs from the 22-26 June and is open daily from 2-5pm.

Summer Trees

Often my horses are left out at pasture once winter has left and the ground has dried sufficiently after the spring rains that the horses' hooves won't tear up the ground and the grass has established itself for the summer. They will only be brought into the barn for feeding, grooming or to be ridden.

This is an original 5" x 7” framed watercolour and is available for $135.00. SOLD

It is also one of the paintings I have at the Norwood 2nd Annual Art Show and Sale which is being held at the Norwood Legion Hall - Branch 300, Corner of Alma and King Street, Norwood, Ontario. I will also be demonstrating there today.

The show runs from the 22-26 June and is open daily from 2-5pm.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and enjoy the artwork. I hope you will return often.

OSWOA - Landscape

It is amazing how much a scene changes due to the time of day, or the season in which it is viewed. Here are two paintings of the same location.

The first one is in the early morning in late October with the mist rising as the sun is coming up.While the second one is also in autumn but around November when most of the leaves have fallen, with a storm approaching in the afternoon.

It doesn't have the softness of the morning scene and seems to be a much colder painting.

Changing Season

Now I have to finish loading the car and go to and set up the Norwood 2nd Annual Art Show and Sale at the Norwood Legion Hall - Branch 300, Corner of Alma and King Street, Norwood, Ontario.

I have to have everything ready for the Opening this afternoon from 2:30-5:00pm.

The show runs from the 22-26 June and is open daily from 2-5pm.

ACEO - Ferns 1-3

A few years ago I transplanted a number of trilliums, wild geraniums, Canada violets, a Jack in the pulpit and a couple of ferns to create a wildflower garden at the front of the property.

The wildflowers last such a short time, but the ferns are there until the frost kills them off for the winter. They are such a lovely, delicate looking plant that I enjoy seeing each year.

Ferns 3

I did these three quick sketches of the ferns and may develop them into larger paintings later.

If you would like more information about ACEO please go to my post on 11 March 2010.

The ACEO shown here are all original watercolour paintings using Artist quality Winsor & Newton paint on 140lb.  Arches 100% rag, acid free watercolour paper.

New World

Early afternoon, during the hottest part of the day the air seems to shimmer with the heat. Without a breeze, the lake is calm and tranquil as though mirroring the sun and sky back towards the heavens.

This is an original 4-3/4" x 8” framed watercolour available for $125.00.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and look at the artwork.
