Mr. Bud - A Work in Progress

This is the under painting for the Mr. Bud wreck in Roatan. It is a 75ft (22.9m) conch boat that was sunk intentionally in 1995 as a dive site.

The Mr. Bud wreck lies in approximately 40ft (12.2m) of water in a wide, shallow sandy trench and is suitable for all divers.

I will post this painting at a later date once I have transferred the image of the "Bud" onto the canvas.

Trophy Table - A Work in Progress

Today I brought in to KAGS the things for the Still Life class. Our theme was Riding and I brought in a wide variety of subject matter including two saddles, a number of bridles, tack cleaning supplies, grooming equipment, helmets, ribbons and trophies.

I chose to do the trophies and ribbons. I wanted to capture the reflections in the polished metal of the trophies as they gleamed beneath the spotlights.

As I finish more on this painting I will post it at a later date.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and look at the artwork.

Silent World - A Work in Progress

I am applying to The Lindsay Art Gallery to have a show there with fellow artist Carol Rutherford.

The show will be called "Above and Below the Reef" and will feature the landscape and people of the Caribbean as well as the wrecks and creatures that inhabit the reef below the surface of the water.

This is the under painting for one of the coral reefs that I took photographs of while I was in Roatan last year.

I will post this painting at a later date once more of the painting has been completed.

Northern Lights - A Work in Progress

It was a busy day at KAGS with many people coming through the gallery. I didn't have very much time to work in this painting (see post on 09 December 2010).

Using a mixture of French ultramarine blue, Antwerp blue and burnt sienna I painted in the sky using a dry brush and leaving areas of colour showing through for the Northern Lights.

Once I have completed more work on it I will post it at a later date.

Mailbox 2 - A Work in Progress

Living in the country mailboxes at the end of the driveway are common.

Recently a number of us had to move our mailboxes due to new government regulations put in effect. It doesn't matter that the mailbox has been in the same place long before I moved here 34 years ago with never any problems.

So now instead of being just across the road, I have to walk down the very steep front hill to get my mail and then trudge back up it, that is if I feel like getting my exercise for the day.

I will post this painting at a later date once more of it is completed.

Tree Tops 5 - A Work in Progress

First I masked a couple of areas with liquid friskit and let it dry.

I started by painting in the sky and then sprinkling salt into the wet paint to create "snowflakes".

Once the paper was dry, I painted in some trees around the frisket and after the paint was dry I removed the masking.

There is a little more that will need to be done before this painting is finished and I will post it at a later date.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my artwork and I hope you will return often.

More Computer Problems

Sometimes I could really get to hate computers. But I have it back now and hopefully I will not have any more problems with it.

Thank you for your patience.
